I think every generation thinks they're that important. In retrospect they never are. I see change, for better and worse. Since both terms indicate decline, erosion gradual and cataclysm dramatic, I don't really see either. Of course, I'm one of those peopel who would way rather live in the present than the past (especially since I'm towards the top). I love medicine and air conditioning and coffee grinders and electricity in general and TV. I also don't believe in the idea of cultural collapse, per se, so there we are.
