Feel free to jump into the discussion or write your own essay. (There was some excellent coverage of the men's collections several weeks ago.) Men are doubly limited because in our society it is not generally seen as appropriate for them to dress flamboyantly.
I have written many times that I think the prison in which men live as result of the patriarchy is much more damaging than the kind of victimization women have experienced. Yet, I am limited to my viewpoint, and motivated by self-interest, so you will have to speak for yourself.
As for whether or not women need the respect or love of men... I for one CRAVE that kind of validation, as much as I wish I didn't. We all need the love and respect of other people, even if perhaps we shouldn't go about it solely through appearance. Both men and women regardless of sexual orientation live lives of exceptional dignity and aloneness.
This is one of the reasons I am glad you are my friend. I can get a little of the validation I crave without seeking it through inappropriate means with less well-intentioned men.
