Graphic novel recommendations please!

I have a reputation of being the person to go to for book recommendations at my job. My boss has just asked me to recommend something for her 13-yr-old anime-obsessed daughter, preferably in graphic novel format. She was not clear about what her daughter already owns, is planning to shop at a regular bookstore, and would be easily offended by mature material.

The two glaring weaknesses in my book knowledge for young people are graphic novels and s/f.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, since I know a lot of you out there are familiar with this kind of thing.
