Movies!

I finally saw the original Philadelphia Story, which is a much better film than the goofy remake. I love how this movie is really a sex comedy, except they tiptoe around the indiscretions at the center of the film. A very witty film that has a lot to say about forgiving each other for our follies. A little indiscretion is often a good thing, particularly when accompanied by champagne.

I am becoming a raving Katherine Hepburn fan. I used to not understand her; now her subtext: fighting for independence and recognition and love absolutely undoes me. I wept over Holiday, which is another brilliant George Cukor comedy and on my list of New Years' films. (Joining Hudsucker Proxy.)

The Times Magazine is apparently all about Westerns this week. I haven't had a chance to read it, yet, but its interesting to see that I am in tune with something else going on. Clearly, my interest is still a little ahead of the curve, but a little behind the developmental arc.

I've got to find someone to talk not just Westerns, but West with.
