* For those of you who have not had to endure one of my descriptions of Don Knotts films, I heartily recommend both The Ghost & Mr Chicken, which is classic real-estate scam haunting; and The Reluctant Astronaut about a misunderstood janitor, afraid of heights, who is launched into space. Both are slow, family-friendly, comedies that are much funnier after viewing than during viewing. Particularly The Reluctant Astronaut, which features Leslie Nielson as an astronaut hottie.
Which reminds me: must viewing for any s/f fan is Forbidden Planet. Literature (closely modelled after The Tempest), psychology, and golden age space exploration combine with a ground-breaking electronic score to create one of the all-time classic space films.
