Hoorah for wasps!

I think it was ashfae who asked what species should disappear. A number of respondents said 'wasps' and suggested they were good for nothing.

As someone who is currently cutting up the Gamache's backyard apples for baked goods, I am here to tell you that wasps are good for killing other insects. Particularly of the fruit burrowing variety. Apparently they lay their eggs on the eggs of other insects. Their larvae eat the other larvae. Fruit becomes worm free.

It was an lj writing prompt actually, I just used it as an excuse to whine about wasps. I still have markings from that dratted wasp sting.

But hmm. I am justly rebuked, it's good to know they do have a purpose.

Yay for worm-free fruit! I'll approach wasps with greater respect from here on out.
